Job Summary

The Michigan Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons (MSTCVS) Cardiac Surgery Quality Collaborative is currently seeking a MSTCVS Perfusion QI Coordinator. The MSTCVS Perfusion QI Coordinator work with MSTCVS Quality Collaborative cardiac surgery centers to identify educational and quality improvement opportunities. The MSTCVS Perfusion QI Coordinator also supervises the institutional processes related to data abstraction, monitoring, validation, analyses, submission, and reporting, associated with clinical performance data collected for the PERForm Registry.

Responsibilities*

Educating participants on quality improvement methodologies related to outcomes and monitoring of quality improvement efforts. Teaching and educating participants regarding clinical aspects of data collection resulting in appropriate interpretation and collection of data variables. Conducting Quality Audits and monitoring data accuracy of the PERForm Registry participants. Participation in the planning of presentations and educational offerings during the MSTCVS quarterly and outreach meetings and leading quarterly statewide PERForm workgroup meetings. Work with project managers and director to determine agenda and goals of meetings.

Required Qualifications*

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree and five years’ clinical experience with perfusion services related to cardiovascular surgery. Ability to communicate skillfully and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment with effective leadership skills. Demonstrates ability to work independently, to meet deadlines efficiently, to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and to be highly self-motivated and well-organized. Applicants must be willing to travel within Michigan, to participating centers outside the State, and to applicable local, state and national conferences.

Reports to MSTCVS Quality Collaborative Project Manager

Desired Qualifications*

Experience with participation in quality improvement efforts. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Basic analytic skills.
