About PERForm
Learn more about the design of our registry
Few robust clinical registries exist to collect data regarding the practice of Cardiopulmonary Bypass (CPB). In addition, most of these do not have sufficient validation to reflect, confidently and accurately, the volume or practice of CPB. The PERForm registry has been created to fill this void.
PERForm has been designed to augment ongoing collection of data reflecting cardiac surgical practices. PERForm and surgical data are linked using our published algorithm. These linked data offer the participant or participants with a more comprehensive and informed version of operative practices and their impact on clinical outcomes.
PERForm provides participants with quarterly benchmark reports reflecting CPB practices. Institutions are able to compare discrete perfusion practices to other participants, and identify the relationship between these practices and clinical outcomes. Additionally, institutions may use these data to support local and registry-wide quality assurance and improvement.
PERForm is a validated clinical registry designed to support the quality assurance and improvement needs of cardiac surgical teams. By linking institutional perfusion and surgical datasets, PERForm provides members with comprehensive, benchmarked insights into CPB practices and outcomes, empowering hospitals to conduct targeted quality improvement initiatives.
By fostering open communication and the exchange of best practices among hospitals and clinicians, we help propel meaningful quality initiatives that benefit both patients and surgical teams. The Coordinating Center assists participating hospitals with data reporting, interprets and disseminates performance metrics, and organizes collaborative learning opportunities designed to advance evidence-based care and outcomes. Through this work, our participating hospitals are well-positioned to realize the highest quality outcomes for the patients whom they serve.

Impact and Engagement
Most cardiac surgical operations require cardiopulmonary bypass to support the patient’s hemodynamic needs. National registries lack detailed information concerning the management of cardiopulmonary bypass.

Partners
The PERForm Registry, which is embedded in the MSTCVS Quality Collaborative, has collaborated with AmSECT and the Michigan Perfusion Society for mutual endorsement. This relationship provides a common platform for assessing the quality and safety of cardiopulmonary bypass. Those participating in the PERForm registry will receive quarterly quality reports that benchmark their practice against other PERForm registry participants. In addition, PERForm has access to experts and thought leaders from AmSECT and the Michigan Perfusion Society to enhance the scientific underpinnings of future investigative work.
